Childs Play

We're all born creative. When we are young, we are at the height of our creative and imaginative powers. Then, as we age, it slowly gets depleted and drained out of us-with far too many end up going through their lives, never fully realizing their creative potential. Sir Ken Robinson, an international advisor on education in the arts, said that we don't grow into creativity; we get educated out of it. This book will help anyone rediscover their creative power, the power they knew as a child, the energy that today is needed more than ever to help businesses thrive and be innovative. Consider that our world has seen more change in the last hundred years than in the previous million years, and it's easy to see that we have entered what is known as the creative age.

This book aims to shine a light on creativity and how to use it as a positive force for change, using real-world examples of how creativity, when used properly, can solve almost any problem it encounters. The book guides anyone who works creatively or manages people where creativity is needed. It would also help those who understand how creative people think and work. More importantly, it will help anyone rediscover their inner genius and show how to apply creativity in personal and business life. Through real-world situations in both corporate and small business environments, the stories in this book have the power to invigorate and reignite the creative force that lives inside every single one of us.

  • Bill is a rare breed of creative director in that he is completely capable of generating great creative work, but he also is comfortable and very effective working directly with customers. He “gets” the business side of the business, and communicates well with people at all levels in your customers’ businesses. In thirty years in the advertising business, I worked with a bunch of creative directors. Most could either effectively handle the customer interaction or could generate great creative work, but not both. In fact, there were only two that I worked with that were exceptional at both ends of the business. Bill Childs has that gift.”

  • “Bill Childs is a bold, yet humble personality - a creative force that has it all together. He talks about business and brands with ease. He can make a mountain from a sliver of information and loves a challenge. He is as passionate about his community and he is about his career. I don’t think Bill considers design and marketing a job, it’s his life.”

-Jane Heft, VP, Director Of Project Design & Corporate Branding, City Center Development Company

  • “Bill has been engaging students at DeSales University for almost 20 years. Students love his sense of humor, his empathy, and his inspirational presentations. Childs encourages students to take risks with their ideas, and to about things in ways they’ve never done before. Creative thinking is a key skill for the future that is often not addressed in education. Childs embodies all that is creative; he has inspired students to adapt, innovate and tap in to their amazing potential.”
